This is one of the most heart warming events to have happened to us. We were called by the Doctor who was caring for the child to thank us and commend Mikey. When Mikey started this charity he wanted to help connect and distract children going through chemotherapy treatment. He never thought he would save a life one day. We supply electronics to children going through harsh chemotherapy treatment, one day not too long ago we got a request from a patient (15 year old male), we will call Tommy for this story. He wanted a tablet to take with him to his treatments to keep his mind occupied. Of course with the help of funds raised by Garavel Subaru, we were able to supply him with a top of the line i-pad tablet. He was thrilled!!! Several months later, Tommy had an appointment with his oncologist. Due to a series of problems at home he could not make the appointment that day. Not feeling well, and realizing he was going to miss an important check up Tommy realized that he could facetime the doctor and thereby keep his appointment and at least be able to physically see the doctor. (and the doctor could see him). Once they connected, it didnt take the doctor long to realize how sick Tommy looked. He instructed the boy to get a cab and come directly to the emergency room where he was successfully treated after a 2 week stay in the hospital. As it turned out, the boy had developed a kidney problem and had the doctor not seen him when he did, the boy could have died. This story does not have a happy ending if not for Garavel Subaru and the Garavel family. Their continued support of our mission has allowed us to gift over 10,000 handheld electronics over the last 15 years. We can not stress enough how critical it is to have the support of such a caring and considerate company. As the sole distributor of all these electronics, I can say with absolute surety that Garavel Subaru and the Garavel family have improved the loves of hundreds of children suffering with cancer. For nearly a decade, Garavel Subaru has been more than a corporate partner to Filling in the Blanks. They have been part of our family. At Filling in the Blanks, our mission is simple: no child should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. Yet every Friday afternoon, thousands of children in our community face exactly that uncertainty. Today, we provide weekend meals to more than 10,600 children across Fairfield, Westchester, and Putnam Counties, helping ensure that hunger does not stand between a child and their potential. Throughout this journey, Garavel Subaru has stood beside us every step of the way. Their support has helped us provide more than 10,000 meals to local children and families, but what makes this partnership truly special is that it extends far beyond financial contributions. Over the years, Garavel Subaru employees have packed weekend meal bags, volunteered at fundraising and community events, and even delivered meals directly to children and families. They have invested not only resources, but also their time, energy, and hearts into ensuring local children have access to the food they need.Their commitment continues today. Earlier this year, Garavel Subaru selected Filling in the Blanks as its Charity of the Month and raised $1,710 to support our programs. It is not just the donation that makes a difference, but the consistent and thoughtful ways they engage their customers, employees, and community in the fight against childhood hunger. The impact of this partnership can be measured in meals, but it is best understood through the lives it touches. One evening, shortly after cuts to SNAP benefits were announced, our office phone rang. On the other end was a fourth-grade girl calling to ask how she could get food for her family. She was hungry and did not know where else to turn. No child should ever have to make that call. Yet that reality exists in communities all around us. That little girl is why we do this work. And partners like Garavel Subaru are why we can answer those calls. Together, we have helped children head into the weekend with nourishment instead of uncertainty. Together, we have supported families forced to make impossible choices between paying for gas and putting food on the table. Together, we have provided not only meals, but dignity, hope, and the reassurance that their community cares. Over the last 13 years, Filling in the Blanks has delivered more than 6 million weekend meals and expanded services that now provide fresh food to 1,600 families every month through our Fresh Food on the Move Mobile Pantry. As the need continues to grow, trusted partners like Garavel Subaru remain essential to our ability to serve local children and families. The true measure of a community partner is not whether they show up once, but whether they continue to show up year after year. For nearly a decade, Garavel Subaru has done exactly that. Through financial support, hands-on volunteerism, and an unwavering belief in our mission, they have helped ensure that thousands of children have access to the food they need. New year, new shoes for 132 kids thanks to Garavel Subaru and Operation Warm! - Erin M
The new year is now a little brighter for 132 kids in our community thanks to our incredible neighbors! Garavel Subaru partnered with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. The team at Garavel Subaru donated sneakers and socks and came to Open Doors to give their time as well, helping families choose the shoes their kids need. It was a great afternoon of celebration, with a friendly welcome, music, food, activities, and more! We are so grateful for being able to help children have a little more joy and confidence thanks to this kindness.
Garavel Subaru & Pink Aid - Tammy Z
Paul Garavel and his incredible team have been a heartfelt Pink Aid partner since 2022. In the past four years, Garavel Suburu has generously donated $9,160 to Pink Aid’s Pink Purse Financial Emergency Assistance Program providing funding assistance to underserved breast cancer patients in financial need. Pink Aid’s Pink Purse offers immediate support to patients in treatment by helping cover essential household expenses to include rent, utilities, food cards and transportation for treatment. Patients are screened based on financial need, vetted by their hospital social workers, and submit their bills which are then paid directly to their service providers. Thanks to Garavel Subaru, Pink Purse has been able to help serve 91 patients with either a $100 food or $100 transportation gift card; certainly, needed assistance for those struggling to get to and from treatment or keep food on their table. These small acts of kindness make a profound difference for patients and their families during such a vulnerable time. Each September, Garavel Subaru turns their entire showroom and salesforce into a mission of giving by donating a percentage of sales for each car sold. Garavel’s involvement to raise funds, engage customers and share Pink Aid’s message of hope and compassion within the local community is more than a fundraiser; it’s so heartfelt and such a meaningful partnership. Sharing the Love of Learning: Garavel Subaru & Stepping Stones Museum - Shira T
The mission of Stepping Stones Museum for Children is to broaden and enrich the educational opportunities for children ages ten and under and enhance their understanding of the world. The museum seeks to create an environment that inspires lifelong learning and pursues strategies that welcome all families to experience the museum’s interactive exhibits, events and services, regardless of their ability to pay. Through the museum’s Open Arms accessibility initiative, Stepping Stones makes it possible for our area’s most economically vulnerable children and families to participate in our broad range of educational programs and experiences at no charge or at a reduced cost. This work could not be possible without the generous financial support of community partners like Garavel Subaru. In 2025, we were honored once again to partner with Paul and Jeremy Garavel and their outstanding team. Having worked with the Garavel in past years, we know their support comes with sincerity, enthusiasm and a strong belief in community. Thanks to their leadership and generosity, Stepping Stones received a generous gift, supporting the museum’s innovative early education programs and services to children and families in our community. While this gift may be measured in dollars, its impact is measured in opportunity. Garavel Subaru’s generosity makes it possible for more families to experience the museum through our Open Arms accessibility initiative. These families are able to climb, explore, imagine and learn together without worrying about the cost of admission. For parents working hard to provide, it means moments of joy as their children’s eyes light up in the Energy Lab or while planting in the Edible Garden. For caregivers seeking enrichment, it means children building literacy, science and social-emotional skills in a welcoming space designed for discovery and growth. In the past year alone, Open Arms welcomed more than 23,000 children, families and schools to receive free or reduced fee admission or access to transformational learning experiences. Specifically, hundreds of children from Title 1 Connecticut schools enjoyed free or reduced fee field trips complete with educational workshops of their choice. Thousands of visitors were welcomed for free admission to our special community days. Through Camp ELLI+ and exhibit-based summer camps, children in Norwalk gained kindergarten readiness skills and hands-on learning experiences at no charge. The entire team at Stepping Stones is grateful for the continuing support of the wonderful people at Garavel Subaru. Their investment in children is not only generous, it is heartfelt. Through our partnership with Garavel Subaru, Paul, Jeremy, Alicia and the team are helping to ensure that children and families who need us most can continue to experience joyful discovery, creative exploration and meaningful learning. Together, we are building brighter futures and a stronger community, one child at a time.

In June of this year, the Ticked Off Foundation 501(c)3 received an email from the marketing person at our local Subaru dealership here in Norwalk, CT notifying us that we were chosen to be their Community Partner of Choice for the month of July. We were excited of course, but we really appreciated being invited to their cat & dog adoption event that same month where we set up a booth to make people aware of Lyme prevention, proper tick removal, and treatment suggestions for both animals and people. They've also donated $950 to our cause. Thank you so much from the Ticked Off Foundation!
Garavel Subaru’s Heartfelt Support for Connecticut Children’s - Jack P
For over two years, Garavel Subaru has gone beyond the standard Love Promise campaign, donating over $4,000 to Connecticut Children’s to support pediatric care in Westport, Connecticut and surrounding areas. Their generosity directly helps bring pediatric expertise to our community. In addition to financial support, Garavel Subaru donated 80 soft & cozy blankets to our patients during winter visits—offering comfort and warmth when it matters most & a gift to take home! Garavel Subaru’s partnership means more than donations; it means real, tangible support that helps children heal and families find hope right in their community.
